OmiseGO is an open Ethereum-based financial technology that enables cross-regional cross-organizational trading of mainstream digital wallets, breaks down payment islands, completes real-time peer-to-peer value exchange and payment services, and supports fiat currency and decentralized currency transactions. The technology aims to advance financial inclusion by breaking existing organizational barriers and was launched in the fourth quarter of 2017 to provide services to everyone through OmiseGO and its digital wallet network.
Omise GO addresses the basic coordination issues between payment processors, gateways, and financial institutions by developing a new generation of payment services. The payment service supports conversion operations between currency and asset types. Through the OmiseGO network and e-wallet, everyone can have services such as payments, remittances, payroll, B2B commerce, supply chain financing, loyalty programs, asset management and others financial transactions in a fully dispersed, high-frequency and low-cost ways.
In addition, users of the world’s largest growth economy will be able to switch from using fiat currency to using decentralized currencies like Ethereum and Bitcoin. The OmiseGo network no longer distinguishes between fiat currency and decentralized cryptocurrency: as more people accept and use it, the best currency will win.
